Trump’s disagreement with Vice President Vance, Iran war in the background

According to ABC News, Trump made this comment after it was reported that Vance had previously expressed some hesitation about attacking Iran. However, after the final decision was made, Vance is reported to have supported the military operation.
The media says that at a press conference in Florida on Monday evening, President Trump was asked if Vance had any disagreement with him about taking action against Iran. In response, Trump said that he did not think so.
Trump said, "We have a good understanding on this issue. But from a philosophical point of view, he was a little different from me. I think he may not have been as enthusiastic about the attack as I was, but he was quite supportive. I thought we had to do it. We had no other choice. If we did not do it, they (Iran) would have done it (attack) on us."
Earlier, an ABC News report revealed their different positions on Iran. A source familiar with the matter said that Vance, who is generally reluctant to engage in U.S. military action abroad, expressed his doubts in internal discussions about the plan to attack Iran late last month.
However, after the decision to attack was finalized, Vance changed his position and focused on supporting the military operation, a source told ABC News.
This is not the first time that Vance has expressed internal concerns about U.S. military action abroad. Vance, a former Marine Corps member who served in Iraq, has expressed similar concerns in the past.
Last year, during a discussion of the U.S. strike against the Houthis in Yemen, Vance disagreed with Trump's position in a Signal group chat. A journalist was mistakenly added to the chat, which is why the information was leaked. At that time, J.D. Vance questioned whether a unilateral U.S. strike against the Houthis to keep international shipping open conflicted with Trump's tough stance on European countries bearing the costs of such an effort.
A few days before the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Vance told The Washington Post that if the US decides to attack, there is no possibility of a long-term war with Iran. He also reiterated the same view in a recent interview with Fox News. However, he said that the campaign against Iran “could go on for a long time.”
“Donald Trump will never let this country get involved in a multi-year conflict that has no clear end or goal. The big difference with President Trump is that he will not get the country involved in a war without a clear goal. This has been the case with many presidents in the past, both Republicans and Democrats.”
He said that Trump’s stated goal is clear — that Iran should not get a nuclear weapon and that it should make a long-term commitment not to try to rebuild that capability in the future. The goal is clear and simple. I think it will prevent us from having problems like Iraq and Afghanistan.
