Hollywood actress Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband takes to court over divorce settlement after her death

Nearly a year and a half after the death of late Hollywood actress Shannen Doherty, her ex-husband and renowned photographer Kurt Isvorienko has taken to court over their divorce settlement. Kurt took this legal action after Shannen's legal team accused him of failing to fulfill his financial obligations.

Kurt's lawyers filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on January 14. Almost two months earlier, Shannen's estate authorities alleged that Kurt had not met several financial conditions as per the divorce settlement.

Shannen's lawyer and the trustee of her family trust claim that Kurt did not fulfill the financial obligations mentioned in the divorce settlement. However, Kurt's side has claimed that the case was filed in the wrong court and that the court has no jurisdiction to enforce the agreement. Kurt's lawyers also argued that the divorce proceedings should have been automatically concluded after Shannen's death after a long battle with cancer. Therefore, the settlement should not have been filed in court.

Shannen's lawyers noted in court documents filed on November 24 that Kurt has not yet sold Shannen's $1.5 million Texas home, the sale price of which was to be divided equally between the two parties. Kurt was supposed to pay $100,000 to buy Shannen's share of a Muni M20 aircraft, which was to be paid to her estate within five business days of the sale. According to the complaint, Kurt unilaterally withheld $50,274 after the aircraft was sold in August 2024, which has not yet been paid.

In addition to the financial issues, Shannen's lawyers allege that Kurt violated another important provision of the divorce agreement. It is claimed that he has not yet returned some of Shannen's personal belongings, especially her private photos. This case has created a new discussion in Hollywood. It remains to be seen which way this legal battle will ultimately turn with the court's ruling.

Incidentally, Shannen Doherty and Kurt Isvorienko were married for 11 years. Shannen filed for divorce in 2023. After a long legal process, their separation was finalized on July 12, 2024, which was just a day before the actress's death.
