Bangladesh is in a better position than Nepal and Laos on the path to LDC graduation. There is no wrong information being given now. If these two countries apply to postpone graduation, Bangladesh can also apply. This is not possible for the interim government alone. Businessmen will have to increase their efforts on their own initiative, said Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor.
He said, high-quality lobbying will have to be done to extend the time for LDC graduation. Without this, it will not be possible to extend the time in such a short time.'
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'LDC Graduation and Bangladesh's Preparation' held at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) auditorium in Paltan in the capital on Saturday (September 13). The seminar was chaired by ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem and chaired by the organization's President Daulat Akhter Mala.
Anisuzzaman Chowdhury said, ‘It is almost impossible for the government alone to extend the LDC graduation period in such a short period of time. You (businessmen) should continue discussions with importing countries through buyers from your place. It is not possible to stop LDC graduation by supporting only the UK or a few countries. Continue your efforts to get the support of the government of their country through buyers.’
The seminar was addressed as special guests by the Press Secretary of the Chief Advisor Shafiqul Alam, Vice President of the organization Enamul Haque Khan on behalf of the BGMEA President, BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries (BAPI) Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Chairman of Policy Exchange Bangladesh M Mashrur Riaz.
