US President Donald Trump has now expressed his reaction to the new sanctions bill on Russia.

Due to the bill passed by the US Senate, five countries, including India, may face up to 100 percent tariffs on their products. Trump has proposed to amend the bill slightly and give himself the power to impose massive tariffs on goods coming from Iran.

The sanctions bill, written by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, passed the initial stage of the Senate on Tuesday (July 28). Its main objective is to increase economic pressure on Moscow due to its invasion of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that India is the second largest importer of Russian crude oil after China.

Meanwhile, while talking to reporters in the Oval Office, the US President said that lawmakers should amend the sanctions bill prepared for Russia so that he can also impose massive tariffs on Iran.

Trump's request for a motion or amendment could delay the bill's passage through the House of Representatives and its final approval.

Trump said, "Honestly, it shouldn't have been necessary. But if it was necessary, I would like them to include tariffs on Iran, not just sanctions. I think that's very important, and that's exactly what Lindsey wanted."
