The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been reduced. The price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by Tk 15 to Tk 1,341 for the month of February at the consumer level.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a new price reduction on Tuesday (February 24). The agency said that the new price has been effective from 6 pm on February 23.

In a notification, BERC said that the price of 12 kg LPG has been reduced by Tk 15 to Tk 1,341 for the month of February.

Earlier, the price of LP gas was last adjusted on February 2 of this month. At that time, the price of a 12-kg cylinder was increased by Tk 50 to Tk 1,356.

However, to keep the price of LP gas at the consumer level bearable and reduce the volatility of the energy market, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has completely withdrawn the existing 7.5 percent VAT at the local production and business levels and the 2 percent advance tax at the import level. At the same time, 7.5 percent VAT was imposed at the import level. In continuation of this, the price of LPG has been reduced this time.

At the same time, BERC has also reduced the price of autogas in a notification issued on February 23. In February, the price of autogas including VAT was reduced by 28 paisa at the consumer level and set at 61.86 taka per liter.

Earlier, the price of autogas was last adjusted on February 2 of this month. At that time, the price of autogas including VAT was increased by 2 taka and set at 62.14 taka per liter.
