It has been recommended to increase the minimum salary of government employees by almost two and a half times to 20,250 taka. It is currently 8,250 taka. This proposal has been included in the finalized Pay Commission report. At the same time, there is a recommendation to increase the salary of the highest step by one and a half times from 78,000 taka to 1 lakh 20,000 taka.

The Pay Commission will submit this report to the Chief Advisor at 5 pm on Wednesday (January 21).

Almost a year and a half after assuming office, the interim government has been active in reversing the collapse of the economy. In addition to financial sector reforms, attention has been paid to market management to control high inflation. At the same time, various initiatives have been taken to reduce income inequality.

The Pay Commission was formed last July to increase the salaries of government employees. After working for about six months, they have finalized the recommendations for increasing salaries and allowances. The report will be formally submitted to the Chief Advisor at 5 pm on Wednesday (January 21) at the State Guest House Jamuna.

According to the relevant information, the current minimum salary of government employees is 8,250 taka, which is proposed to be increased to 20,000 taka. On the other hand, it has been recommended to increase the salary of the highest step from 78,000 taka to 1 lakh 20,000 taka. In this, the ratio of minimum and maximum salary is being set at 1:8. The additional expenditure on implementing the entire salary structure will be about 80,000 crore taka. The responsibility of implementing this structure from July 1 will be on the next political government. In this regard, Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that the chairman said that everyone will be happy.

Earlier, a decision has been taken to implement a partial salary structure from this January. For this purpose, 22,000 crore taka has been allocated in the revised budget of the current fiscal year.
