The middle class is interested in buying savings certificates considering it the safest medium in the difficult situation of the banking sector. In addition to safety, the interest rate here is also quite good. Pensioner savings certificate, family savings certificate, five-year Bangladesh savings certificate and profit-based savings certificate every three months - currently, the National Savings Department has these four types of savings certificates. Apart from family savings certificates, individuals as well as institutions can invest in all the remaining savings certificates.

Among the four types of savings certificates, pensioner savings certificates provide the highest profit. For an investment of less than 7.5 lakh taka in this savings certificate, the profit at the end of the fifth year (i.e. after maturity) is 11.98 percent. If you invest more than 7.5 lakh taka in this savings certificate, then the profit rate after maturity is 11.80 percent. Retired government officials and employees, retired judges of the Supreme Court, retired members of the armed forces and spouses or children of deceased employees who are beneficiaries of family pension can buy this savings certificate.

After the pensioner savings certificate, the highest profit is available in the family savings certificate. Only adult women can buy it. If less than 7.5 lakh taka is invested in this savings certificate, the profit rate at maturity is 11.93 percent. And if more than 7.5 lakh taka is invested, the rate is 11.80 percent.

The profit rate of the 5-year Bangladesh Savings Certificate is 11.83 percent for investments less than 7.5 lakh taka. If more than 7.5 lakh taka is invested, the profit rate is 11.80 percent. In addition, a profit rate of 11.82 percent can be obtained in profit-based savings certificates every 3 months. However, this rate is lower for investments less than 7.5 lakh taka and 11.77 percent for investments more than 7.5 lakh taka.

If the savings certificate is redeemed before maturity, the profit is reduced. The profit rate of savings certificates is reviewed every year in July and January. As needed, the profit rate is increased or decreased.
