France expresses interest in investing in Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical industry and ICT sector

French Ambassador Jean-Marc Serre-Charle met with Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin. The meeting was held at the Trade Advisor's office at the Secretariat on Monday (November 24) afternoon. The meeting discussed various aspects of trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and France in detail.

The French Ambassador said that the French government has been working with Bangladesh to develop trade for a long time. In line with this, France wants to increase further investment in Bangladesh. He expressed his country's interest in investing in Bangladesh, especially in the pharmaceutical industry and ICT sectors of Bangladesh.

Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin thanked the Ambassador for expressing France's interest in investing in Bangladesh and said that France is a long-standing trade partner of Bangladesh. There is great potential to increase the partnership through trade expansion.

He also said that French investment will increase capital flow into the country, which will be positive for the economy. At the same time, he mentioned that investment in this country could be profitable for French businessmen due to relatively low labor costs and low production costs.

Additional Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan was present at the meeting.
