Instructions given by the Prime Minister in the Cabinet meeting

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed ministers to maintain special vigilance to maintain law and order during the Eid holidays.

Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie gave this information while talking to media personnel after the cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 17).

Stating that the Prime Minister has given special instructions to maintain law and order during the Eid, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said that there is unrest in the society on some issues including market management, law and order, and energy during the seven-day Eid holiday. The Prime Minister has also instructed ministers to work to resolve them.

On the other hand, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Nasimul Gani said that the Prime Minister has instructed to quickly dispose of cases of violence against women and rape. He also emphasized on strengthening the coordination of the departments concerned. One of the priorities of this government is to prosecute rape and violence against women.

He further said that a total of five important issues were discussed in the meeting. Meanwhile, the cabinet has approved changes to the supplementary budget for the current fiscal year, which will be sent to parliament for approval later. He said that a policy decision has also been taken on a matter related to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The cabinet secretary said that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Disaster Management and Relief has been directed to urgently assess the damage caused in different parts of the country due to the recent flash floods, hailstorms and storms.
