The autopsy report of nine-year-old Haniya Adil, who was killed in a firing incident in Chakwal, Punjab province of Pakistan, has revealed horrifying information. The report said that a total of 11 bullet and injury marks were found on the child's body.
The bullets caused serious damage to several vital organs including her heart, liver, lungs, chest and stomach, a report by the country's media outlet Geo News on Wednesday (June 17). According to doctors, all the bullets entered the body before death and the injuries were so deep that they caused instant death.
The incident began when the Australian-Pakistani child's family was staying in Chakwal, the country's Chakwal on vacation. It is alleged that Punjab's Crime Control Department (CCD) officials mistook their car for a robber's car and opened fire. The child died on the spot.
The autopsy report also said that 6 to 8 hours passed after Haniya's death before the autopsy. During this time, the hospital authorities sealed the blood-stained clothes, X-rays and other evidence and handed them over to the police.
Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb described it as tragic and said that it happened due to a misunderstanding during a raid, where a robbery was allegedly taking place. She said that the investigation into the incident has been completed and the report was submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court has ordered that a petition filed seeking a judicial inquiry into the incident be listed with the main case. The CCD officer accused of firing in the incident is currently in jail.
Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese urged Pakistan to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident.
