A new tension has emerged on the Bangladesh-India border. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) are facing each other at the border. And amid this confrontation, 9 people are trapped in the no-man's land on the border. India claims that they are Bangladeshi citizens; however, Bangladesh has objected to accepting them.
According to NDTV, 9 people are trapped in the no-man's land between India and Bangladesh in the Mankachar border area of Assam, India. Attempts were made to push them into Bangladesh by claiming them as Bangladeshi citizens, but the BGB refused to accept them.
A flag meeting was held between the BSF and the BGB to resolve the problem. However, sources said that no solution came out of that meeting. BSF sources said that a new meeting will be held on the matter today, Monday (June 15).
Earlier on Sunday (June 14), tension spread in the area when the nine people were seen stranded in the no-man's land of the Mankachar border. In a video circulating on social media, one of them can be heard saying that they were 'Bangladeshi citizens' and had gone to India for work.
Recently, the BSF has been trying to push many people into Bangladesh by claiming to be Bangladeshi citizens at various parts of the Bangladesh-India border. It is claimed that in the last one week, Assam Police and BSF jointly 'prevented' 21 people from entering India.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised the role of the police and BSF in 'preventing infiltration'.
In a post on X on Sunday, he claimed that, 'The joint efforts of Assam Police and BSF to strengthen border security and safety have quickly identified 21 people and prevented them from entering India. Our multi-pronged measures to protect the border continue.
Himanta Biswa Sharma demands that Assam be made free from illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and that the borders of neighboring states along the international border should also be secured.
