Trump’s lawsuit against the New York Times

President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the US newspaper The New York Times. He alleged that the newspaper has been waging a "campaign of lies" against him for nearly a decade and that it has become a "virtual mouthpiece for the Radical Left Democratic Party."

Donald Trump wrote on social media X on Monday (September 15), "Today I am honored to file a $15 billion defamation and slander lawsuit against The New York Times. It is one of the worst and most depraved newspapers in the history of our country, which has become a virtual mouthpiece for the Radical Left Democratic Party."

Republican leader Trump alleged that the New York Times specifically printed the news on the front page of the newspaper in support of his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

Trump claimed that it was the "largest illegal campaign donation in the history of America."

He also alleged that the newspaper had spread false propaganda against his family, business, the ‘America First’ and ‘Make America Great Again (MAGA)’ movements, including the entire nation.

Trump also singled out the New York Times news publication along with other liberal US media outlets such as ABC and CBS, claiming that these outlets have long engaged in deliberate abuse and attacks that are ‘totally unacceptable and unlawful’.

The US president also wrote, ‘I am proud to hold this once-respected newspaper accountable, just as we have done against networks that spread fake news – such as George Slobodopoulos/ABC/Disney and 60 Minutes/CBS/Paramount. They knew they were deliberately ‘smearing’ me with a very complex documentary and visual distortion, which was in fact a form of malicious defamation. So the case was finally settled for a record amount.’

Trump further attacked the Times, alleging that the US newspaper had been allowed to ‘falsely and defamatoryly attack’ him for a long time.

He also wrote, ‘They have been systematically engaging in this kind of abuse for a long time, which is completely unacceptable and illegal. The New York Times has been allowed to falsely, defamatoryly and defamatoryly attack me for a long time and today it ends! The lawsuit is being filed in the great state of Florida.
