Trump ready to impose major sanctions on Russia

US President Donald Trump said that he is ready to impose major sanctions on Moscow if all NATO member countries stop buying oil from Russia and take similar steps.
Trump said this on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday (September 13).
In the post, he wrote, ‘Letter from President Donald J. Trump to all NATO countries and the world: I am ready to impose major sanctions on Russia, when all NATO countries agree to this and start doing the same and when all NATO countries completely stop buying oil from Russia.’
He wrote that NATO’s commitment against Moscow is ‘far less than 100’. He also described as ‘surprising’ the fact that ‘some’ members continue to buy Russian oil.
Trump proposed that NATO as a group impose 50 to 100 percent tariffs on China.
He claims that China has strong control, even influence, over Russia, and these strong tariffs will break that control.
He also wrote, “This is not Trump’s war (it would never have started if I were president!), This is Biden and Zelensky’s war. I am only here to stop it and help save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives.”
Earlier, Trump had warned that if there was no progress in ending the war in Ukraine, he would impose a second round of sanctions on countries that buy Russian oil. He has already imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian goods, as India continues to import Russian oil.
On the other hand, the G7 countries and the European Union (EU) have severed trade relations with Russia and imposed price caps on Russian oil. In response, Russia has increased oil sales to countries such as China and India. Although the 27 member states of the EU have promised to completely stop importing all fossil fuels from Russia by 2028.
