US President Donald Trump has been involved in one war after another since taking office for his second term. Now he has hinted at engaging in another.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Saturday (October 10) local time, Al Jazeera reported.
He called the attack by Yemen's Houthi rebel group on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, unacceptable and said he planned to speak with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Donald Trump said the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was unacceptable and that he planned to speak to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about it.
Noting that the Houthis have links with the United States, he said, "What they have done is very bad."
The US president said he was considering whether the United States should join the war against the Houthis.
"We might join in. We will look into the matter. We have just come to know about the recent attacks. So we will take a decision on this. We will take action very quickly," he said.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said an American had been killed in the Houthi attack and called for an end to "such despicable attacks".
He wrote in the X message, 'We stand with Saudi Arabia and the people of that country and express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.'
The deadliest attack on Saudi soil in more than a decade killed 12 people at the airport and wounded hundreds, prompting the Saudi-led coalition on Sunday to announce "strong and decisive" action against Yemen's Houthis.
The coalition blamed the Iran-backed group for the attack on King Khalid International Airport, calling it a "full-scale war crime." A diplomatic source said the attack was carried out by a missile.
The attack is the latest in a series of unprecedented attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia since a ceasefire in their long-running conflict with Yemen's Riyadh-backed government collapsed in July.
