Trump’s serious accusations against the Nobel Committee

US President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the awarding of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to prominent South African judge Navi Pillay.
He accused the Nobel committee of undermining the prize by awarding it. Trump claimed that Pillay, 85, was a staunch critic of the United States and Israel and had done nothing to promote peace.
Earlier, after receiving the award, Pillai had jokingly said that if the audience applauded a little more, he might be able to share the award with Trump! Trump's long-held hope of receiving the Nobel Prize and this joke led to such a strong reaction from Trump.
Standing in the historic courthouse in Nuremberg, Germany, Navi Pillay dedicated her prestigious award to victims and survivors of international crimes. The judge, who has spent a long career defending international justice and human rights, has played a key role in the past against war crimes and genocide.
On the other hand, contrary to Donald Trump's criticism, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly praised the work of Navi Pillay. In a statement, he said that Pillay has been a steadfast voice for international law and human rights for the past few decades. Today's award is not only her personal achievement, but also a unique recognition of the work of all people fighting for justice and human dignity around the world.
