The Donald Trump administration has announced that the execution of Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people at the Fort Hood Army base in 2009, will be carried out by firing squad and will be broadcast live for all to see, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has said.

This extreme and bizarre announcement by the Trump administration has sparked intense moral debate around the world. According to analysts, broadcasting a country's judicial process or execution live as public entertainment is a gross degradation of civilization and a brutal manifestation of the United States' moral vacuum.

Pete Hegseth, however, claims that this public measure is to make the general public understand the serious consequences of such crimes. However, critics see it as an example of state-sponsored barbarity and cruelty. Deep concerns and questions are now being raised around the world about the way in which the world's so-called largest democracy is moving away from principles and ideals through one controversial decision after another.
