How many ships have managed to pass through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, says Kepler

A total of 26 ships passed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Thursday (September 24), Kepler shipping data showed. Of these, 12 entered the strait and 14 left. Friday's data is not yet available.

However, the previous day, Wednesday, 27 cargo ships had passed through the waterway, up from 24 the day before. An average of 26 ships have used the Bab al-Mandeb Strait every day over the past 10 days, according to global data intelligence firm Kepler.

In other words, although ship traffic on Thursday decreased slightly compared to Wednesday, it is still close to the average of the past 10 days.

This strait, located between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, is one of the most important waterways for international trade. It plays a vital role in transporting goods between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

However, due to fears of attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels, many ships have recently been avoiding this waterway and taking longer routes around the southern tip of Africa. As a result, the volume of shipping through the Bab al-Mandeb and the Red Sea is considered an important indicator of the state of international trade.
