Iran claims US foreign policy is based on ‘lies’

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai has lashed out at the United States, saying that Washington’s regime and foreign policy have become completely dependent on ‘lies’.

While criticizing US policy in Iran and the wider Middle East, he cited the famous Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky’s classic novel ‘The Brothers Karamazov’.

Highly critical of US international policy, Baghai said that Washington’s entire policy framework is now excessively dependent on lies. In this context, he quoted a famous quote by Dostoevsky, saying that a person who lies to himself and believes his own lies reaches a point where he can no longer distinguish any truth within himself or around him.

Through this literary quote, the Iranian spokesman essentially meant that the United States, by constantly lying in the international arena, has reached such a confused state that they themselves are no longer able to distinguish between real truth and lies.
