In an interview with Al Jazeera, Paul Musgrave, a professor and political analyst at Georgetown University in Qatar, said that the likelihood of the United States launching a ground operation in Iran is very low. One of the reasons for this is that the United States is very careful to avoid the loss of lives or damage to its own troops and does not want to engage in a long-term ground operation.

He noted that if a ground operation is launched in Iran, it would be very bloody and terrible. Many may think of a surprise operation or raid by special forces, but Iran is not an easy target like Venezuela, where the United States can easily introduce its weapons, troops and military equipment if it wants.

Musgrave also said that in order to send troops to Iran, the US forces will have to prepare themselves on a large scale. And this long preparation phase will create a great opportunity for Iran to retaliate against US forces. As a result, to put it bluntly, any such operation could cause extreme disaster and bloodshed for US troops.

In response to the question of whether there could be a military operation to capture Iran's southern islands, the analyst said that even if something like that happens, it would be within the scope of artillery forces and its form could be much like the Ukraine war.

The Trump administration will not want to put its troops in such a situation, as the Ukraine war has become a bloody and destructive conflict. That is why the US administration has now chosen a policy of intensifying air strikes and air operations against Iran in a very planned manner instead of deploying ground troops.
