US President Donald Trump made a big comment during his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Evian, France on the sidelines of the G-7 summit. He said that the United States will come to help if India is attacked. He said that even if there is an attack on Modi, Washington will be by his side. At the same time, Trump also described Modi as a tough and skilled negotiator.

Indian media outlet Indian Express says that Trump made these remarks at a joint press briefing with Modi on the sidelines of the G-7 summit. The US Republican president said that India and the US have a great relationship.

He said, "I think it is a wonderful relationship. If India is attacked, we will come to their aid. If someone attacks that person (Modi), we will be there. If India is attacked and he is the leader, we will come to their aid."

This meeting between Modi and Trump in France was the first direct meeting of the two leaders after 16 months. Meanwhile, the recent US attack in the Gulf region, which killed three Indian sailors, and Washington's high tariffs on Indian exports have also strained relations between the two countries.

Asked whether India would play a role in West Asia, Trump said, "India plays an important role in all areas." He said, "Yes, I think so. India plays a big role in all areas. As long as Narendra Modi is the leader, India will play an important role."

Trump also highlighted his personal position on India. He said, "As long as I am president, India will have a good friend in the White House. Everyone here loves India and has great respect for this man (Narendra Modi)."

Trump said, "Look at this man. Let me teach you a lesson. He is one of the most beautiful people. He looks so gentle and calm, like an angel. But in reality, he is a total killer. But he is so good to look at that he surprises you. There are very few people like that.

Trump also described Modi as 'polite but tough'. He said, 'People say he is a very good person. I say he is very tough. He is a skilled negotiator. He loves the Indian people, and he loves the United States. We had a 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston. The stadium was full to the brim. We will visit India again in the future.

He said, 'We had a very good discussion with Prime Minister Modi of India. We are working on a trade deal. A lot is happening between the United States and India. The United States is currently going through the best time in history. More than $19.2 trillion in investment is coming into our country. We are building factories, doing various types of development. The Prime Minister is also investing a lot in the United States. We appreciate that. I just want to say, he has been my friend for a long time and our relationship has always been very good. It is good to be with you.

On the other hand, Narendra Modi praised Trump for taking the initiative to establish peace in West Asia. At the same time, he also mentioned the 'new momentum' in India-US relations. Modi said, "A new hope for peace and stability has arisen in the region. I believe this will pave the way for lasting peace. You and I agree that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is very important for the global economy." He added, "India has always stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation. We should work together on this issue and give special importance."
