The country’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said that the peace deal brokered by Pakistan between the US and Iran is harmful for Israel. He claims that this agreement is negative not only for Israel but for the entire ‘world’. At the same time, he also indicated that Israel will continue its campaign against Iran and its actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon in its own way.
Anadolu news agency reports that Bezalel Smotrich made these comments in a post on the social media X on Monday (June 15). The Israeli Finance Minister said, ‘A lot has been achieved in the joint campaign to weaken Iran, and they will not be lost.
He also said, ‘We must continue this campaign on our own initiative and in creative ways, so that Iran can never acquire nuclear weapons.’
Smotrich claimed that Israel will face new tests on the Lebanon issue. He said he would continue to push Hezbollah further away by giving the Israeli military complete freedom.
Earlier on Sunday, US President Donald Trump announced that a peace deal had been reached with Iran. The agreement includes a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of a US naval blockade on Iran.
However, despite this announcement, Israeli forces continued airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Monday. According to Lebanese officials, more than 3,700 people have been killed in the Israeli offensive that began on March 2 this year.
