The US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a defensive strike against Iran at 5 pm local time on Tuesday. The operation was launched on the orders of the president in response to the downing of a US military Apache helicopter. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the response to the attack would be terrible.
In a post on the social media X on Tuesday, Araghchi said, "The US has tried to test our resolve after failing on the battlefield. Our powerful armed forces will not leave any attack or threat unanswered."
In the same post, he further warned, "If you want to be safe, leave our region." Earlier, the US carried out the first round of strikes targeting Iranian air defense systems and radar installations located around the Strait of Hormuz, according to relevant sources.
Centcom claims that this is just a response to Iran's "unreasonable aggression." According to the United States, the aim of the attack was to protect its forces and interests.
