In a major milestone in defense technology, the United States has deployed its state-of-the-art ‘Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon’ system overseas for the first time.

The US military said the powerful missile system was sent there as part of a large multinational military exercise being held in Australia’s Northern Territory.

This special missile system, nicknamed ‘Dark Eagle’, is extremely destructive and agile. It is capable of hitting targets up to 1,725 miles away at five times the speed of sound. Its biggest feature is that it can change its course in mid-air, making it almost impossible for enemy radar or defense systems to detect or intercept it.

According to US military officials, the move is aimed at demonstrating the ability to rapidly deploy advanced weapons in the Indo-Pacific region. Washington and its allies are strengthening their military cooperation, especially in the face of increasing global competition over hypersonic technology.

By deploying Dark Eagle in this remote part of Australia, the US sent a strong message of commitment to the security of its allies and its strategic dominance in the region.
