US President Donald Trump has given new information about the recent war between Pakistan and India. He said that 10 warplanes were shot down in the conflict that took place in May 2025. However, as usual, he did not mention which side the damaged aircraft actually belonged to.

Trump again claimed that last year he stopped the conflict between Pakistan and India by threatening to impose tariffs. That conflict could have turned into a nuclear war.

In an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday (February 10), Trump said, "I have settled eight wars. At least six of these eight wars have been stopped because of tariffs. I said, if you don't stop this conflict, I will impose tariffs on you, because I don't want to see people die." Trump also said, "They said then, what does tariffs have to do with this? I said, you have to pay. Like India and Pakistan.’

The US President said, ‘In my opinion, it could have been a nuclear war. They were jumping on each other, 10 warplanes were shot down. They were fighting like crazy.’

On May 10 last year, Trump announced on social media that the two neighboring countries had agreed to a ‘complete and immediate’ ceasefire brokered by Washington. Since then, Trump has claimed credit for stopping the India-Pakistan conflict more than 80 times.

Over the past 10 months, Trump has claimed numerous times that warplanes were shot down during the conflict. However, he did not specify which country those warplanes belonged to.

Initially, Trump said that five planes were shot down in the Pakistan-India conflict, but in October last year he increased the number to seven and in November he claimed eight. Now he has increased the claim by two more to 10.

On April 22 last year, 26 civilians were killed in an attack by armed groups in Pahalgam, Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for the incident and attacked that country on May 7. Pakistan retaliated. Pakistan claimed credit for causing heavy damage, including shooting down several Indian warplanes, during the four-day war.

The Dawn reported.
