Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned that if the US starts a war against Iran, it will turn into a regional war. Addressing a large gathering at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Husseiniya on Saturday (January 31), he said that the US's recent statements about war and military power are nothing new.

He said, "If the Americans start a war this time, it will turn into a regional war. Sometimes they talk about war, they talk about planes and warships - this is nothing new. All possible options, including war, are on the table."

Regarding US President Donald Trump's threats, he said, "The Iranian nation has nothing to fear about these things; such threats do not affect the Iranian people." At the same time, he also stated that Iran itself will never start a war. However, his country is ready to give a befitting reply to any aggression.

Khamenei said, “We do not start wars and do not want to attack any country; but if anyone attacks or harasses Iran, the Iranian nation will respond to them harshly.” He added that the Iranian people have extinguished the recent American-Zionist sedition, just like past conspiracies. They will face any future challenges with determination.

Meanwhile, Khamenei also spoke about the casualties in the clashes between security forces and protesters earlier this month. According to him, the enemies wanted to exaggerate the number of casualties and wished it to be higher. However, the current number is also very sad.
