The increase in gold prices in the global market has affected the domestic market. On Wednesday (November 19), the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) increased the new price by Tk 2,612.

In a notification, BAJUS said that the price of pure gold in the local market has increased. As a result, the new price of gold has been determined considering the overall situation. This adjusted price has been effective from Thursday (November 20).

According to the notification, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) in the domestic market will be Tk 2,09,520. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been set at Tk 2,03,030, 18-carat gold per bhori at Tk 1,71,426, and the price of traditional gold per bhori at Tk 1,42,592.

Bajus said that the government-set 5 percent VAT and Bajus-set minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, wages may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
