Ahead of the El Clásico, Barcelona midfielder Gavi has made his stance clear. He does not believe that the absence of Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior—who is sidelined due to a suspension—will have any impact on the intensity of the match.

The two arch-rivals, Barcelona and Real Madrid, are set to face each other on Sunday night at Barcelona’s home ground. Vinícius will miss this crucial encounter for Real Madrid due to his suspension. In the past, the Brazilian star has been involved in several heated exchanges with Gavi on the pitch.

In an interview with ESPN, Gavi stated that he is not concerned about whether the match will be any less compelling in Vinícius's absence. For him, Real Madrid remains the primary opponent; regardless of which players take the field for them, his own goal remains to give his absolute best.

According to Gavi, while one might have a good relationship with certain players off the pitch—or perhaps not—once the game begins, everyone on the opposing team is a rival.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona midfielder also expressed his respect for Real Madrid coach José Mourinho. Praising Mourinho’s personality and passionate coaching style, Gavi remarked that he enjoys listening to him. He noted that he appreciates having a coach with such a strong personality as an opponent, and he holds Mourinho in high regard.

Real Madrid currently trails Barcelona by six points in the La Liga standings. Consequently, this match is vital for the Madrid side as they look to narrow the gap in the title race. On the other hand, Barcelona has the opportunity to secure a win on home soil and further extend their advantage.
