Paris’s Famous Louvre Museum Closed Due to Security Risks

Paris, the capital of France, is in turmoil as protests erupt over the rising cost of living and the declining quality of public services. Intense clashes between demonstrators and the police on the streets have created a highly volatile situation. To ensure security, major exhibition venues across the city—including the world-renowned Louvre Museum—have been abruptly closed. As a result, tourists who arrived with dreams of seeing the iconic painting, the ‘Mona Lisa,’ are being forced to leave in disappointment.
The violence stems from protests that began across the country last week. Paris has not witnessed such significant unrest in several years. To manage the situation, authorities have tightened security throughout the city and decided to keep popular tourist attractions closed to prevent further trouble.
On Saturday morning (October 24), many local and international tourists were stopped in their tracks upon arriving at the gates of the Louvre. Other prominent sites, including the Musée d’Orsay, the Picasso Museum, and the famous Paris Opera House, have also been shut down. The entire Louvre complex, including the area surrounding its iconic glass pyramid, is now under the guard of armed police.
Selena Bertoni, a visitor from Italy on a four-day trip, expressed her regret: "We thought there might be some minor disturbances, but we never imagined that a world-famous museum would be closed like this." Many other tourists have similarly voiced their frustration at finding the museum closed without any prior warning. Public access to these historic sites will remain suspended until the situation returns to normal.
