US President Donald Trump has cast an early vote for the upcoming midterm elections on November 3. His party, the Republican Party, is currently fighting to retain control of Congress.
On Saturday (October 24), before attending a campaign rally in the southern state of Georgia, Trump cast his ballot in his home state of Florida, accompanied by his wife, Melania.
After voting, he stated that he had cast his ballot for his party's candidates.
When asked by reporters whether corruption was a major issue for voters, Trump claimed that corruption is taking place in districts and cities controlled by Democrats.
"People should look at the real corruption," he said. "The Democrats are the ones engaging in corruption."
The Republican billionaire has consistently refused to accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. Although he has alleged widespread voter fraud in that election, no credible evidence has been found to support his claims. He reiterated similar allegations on Saturday.
After casting his vote at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump remarked, "I ran in 2016 and won. I also won in 2020. But things didn't turn out that way in the end. The election was rigged, yet I won by millions of votes."
With only 10 days remaining until the midterm elections, the party not currently in the White House typically holds an advantage. However, recent opinion polls present a discouraging outlook for the Republicans, suggesting that the party could lose control of the House of Representatives and potentially even the Senate.
If the Republicans fail to secure a majority in Congress, 80-year-old Trump could face significant obstacles in implementing his legislative agenda during the final two years of his presidency. Furthermore, Democrats may initiate various congressional investigations, which would create fresh pressure on Trump and his close associates. Since returning to the White House, Democratic leaders have expressed interest in scrutinizing the business activities conducted by the President and his inner circle through their family holding companies.
