FIFA President May Visit Dhaka on Sunday

Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA—the governing body of world football—may arrive in Dhaka tomorrow, Sunday. He is expected to stay in Bangladesh for a brief period.

The FIFA President is scheduled to visit Thimphu, Bhutan. As there are no direct flights to Thimphu, he might make a transit stop in Saidpur, Dhaka, or somewhere in India. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has not yet received confirmation on whether the FIFA President will transit through Bangladesh; however, they have made the necessary preparations.

The General Secretary of the BFF visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon to ensure that, should the FIFA President transit through Bangladesh, the immigration process and other formalities can be completed as quickly as possible. If Infantino remains in the airport’s VIP zone during his transit, the President and Vice-Presidents of the BFF will meet with him.
