Despite losing some rhythm early in the first half at Istanbul's Ali Sami Yen Stadium, Barcelona staged a magnificent comeback after the break. Driven by the brilliance of young star Lamine Yamal, the Catalan club defeated hosts Galatasaray 4–1 in a Champions League match on Tuesday night.

After two rounds of Champions League play, Barcelona has climbed to the top of the points table with two consecutive wins. In contrast, Galatasaray sits near the bottom of the table, having dropped points in both matches.

Barcelona played attacking football right from the start. The hosts' defense kept a close watch on Yamal on the right flank, prompting Barça to build most of their attacks down the left side.

However, Galatasaray took the lead in the 27th minute. Following a fall by Anthony Gordon in the penalty box, the hosts launched a swift counter-attack. Rafael Leão advanced with the ball down the left flank and played it to the edge of the box. Russian footballer Aleksey Batrakov took a shot from there; the ball deflected off Barcelona's João Cancelo and found the back of the net.

Galatasaray became even more aggressive after the goal. Victor Osimhen headed the ball into the net from a corner, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. Barış Yılmaz had also sent the ball across the goal line into the net.

Barcelona then took control of the match. When Yamal went down in front of the box, the ball fell to Davinson Sánchez, who lost possession. Dani Olmo recovered the ball and passed it to Cancelo; the defender capitalized on the opportunity to equalize for Barcelona.

Yamal changed the complexion of the match right from the start of the second half. Although Yamal initially set up a scoring opportunity for Gordon, the English forward failed to capitalize on it. However, in the 50th minute, Yamal delivered a superb cross to Fermín López, who headed the ball home to put Barcelona ahead.

Three minutes later, Yamal displayed his magic once again. In a tight space, he outmaneuvered Turkish international Eren Elmalı three times using three different moves before passing the ball to Gordon. This time, the English forward made no mistake, scoring to extend Barcelona's lead. Unable to prevent the goal, Elmalı threw his hands up in frustration.

In the 65th minute, Yamal cut inside from the right flank and passed to substitute center-forward Gabriel Jesus. Although the former Arsenal forward failed to control the ball, it fell to Karim Adeyemi, who fired a powerful shot into the net to make the score 4–1.

Three minutes later, Yamal had a chance to get on the scoresheet himself. He rushed to control a loose ball but sent his shot over the crossbar.

Despite not scoring, the 19-year-old Yamal demonstrated his immense talent throughout the match. He had the opportunity to edge closer to Kylian Mbappé's record for the most Champions League goals scored as a teenager, but ultimately failed to find the net.

Nevertheless, his importance to the Barcelona side was once again evident. After becoming the youngest captain in the club's history in the previous round, Yamal donned the captain's armband again on Tuesday when Pedri left the pitch.
