Under-20 team wants to go far with a winning mentality

The Bangladesh Under-20 national football team wants to go far with a winning mentality. Team coach Gerard Emlyn Jones and the team's new face Adam Abbas told reporters about their future plans and preparations at a briefing after the residential camp practice at the Shamsul Huda Football Academy in Jessore on Sunday at 12 noon.

The coach said that it has been possible to test the capabilities of the footballers through long practices. Future plans are being arranged keeping in mind not only the current competition, but also the upcoming international tournaments of the Under-17 and Under-20 teams.

As part of the preparation, the team has already played more than four friendly matches, from which the players have gained different experiences in terms of physical ability, tactical positioning and playing under pressure. The coach is emphasizing on increasing the stamina and balance of the players by taking the situation of the field or pitch positively. In his words, the goal is one - to snatch victory for the country with a positive mindset and give their best.

About the new signing Adam Abbas, the coach said that he is a professional, humble and eager to learn footballer. The team has a special plan to develop him into a skilled player and goal scorer.

Expressing his feelings, Adam Abbas said that he is happy and proud to be able to play for Bangladesh. He found the hard work of the national team, assistant coaching staff and technical team commendable. He also said that the playing of young footballers like Hamza Chowdhury and Yasin Alfi Reza in the national team has inspired him.

Adam said that the main goal of the team is to do well on big stages including the upcoming AFC Asian Cup. Stating that there is a great understanding between the coach and the players, he said that if the national team continues to work together, it will be able to bring great success to the country.

Bangladeshi-born footballer Adam Abbas has come to Dhaka from England. Although the 19-year-old player's main position is right winger, he can also play in the center forward or number 9 position if necessary. Notably, he has experience playing in the youth teams of two traditional English clubs, Manchester United and Burnley.
