Zoya opens up about ’Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara 2’

Director Zoya Akhtar has given a big update about the much-awaited sequel to the popular Bollywood movie 'Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara'. She said that the work on the second installment of the film is underway. However, they are waiting until the story reaches a stage when it feels appropriate to bring the old characters back to the present day context.

In an interview given to 'The Hollywood Reporter India' recently at the Monsoon Film Festival, Zoya said, 'We are working on 'Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara 2'. We do not know what will happen or not in the end. However, if the story of meeting the characters again in the present day feels right, then it will be good. When it does, I will announce it myself.

This is one of the clearest updates that Jodar has given about the sequel of the movie so far. Earlier, she was asked about the possibility of bringing the characters of the film back on screen, but now she has confirmed that work is in full swing on the matter.

Mistaking the ad for the sequel trailer

In 2025, speculation about 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2' started again after Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar were seen together in an ad. After seeing the ad at Yas Island, many viewers initially thought that it was the trailer of 'ZNMD 2'.

Later, some fans were disappointed to learn that it was not a trailer of the film, but an ad.

Zoya said that she also had to face criticism in private messages on social media regarding this. She said, people thought it was a trailer. At first, everyone was saying, 'Yes!' But later, many people started abusing me in my DMs. They were saying, it was not funny at all.

Farhan also wants a sequel

In 2025, Farhan Akhtar, one of the film's actors and producers, also expressed his desire to make a sequel. He said that he has been asked about 'ZNMD 2' since 2011. He described the experience of working in Spain with Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin in the film as great.

According to Farhan, if he gets a chance to relive the experience of shooting for any film in his life, he will choose 'Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara' without thinking for a moment. He expressed hope that Zoya will make the second installment.
