6 Films Submitted to Bangladesh Film Certification Board in a Single Day, Megh Claims New Record

Six full-length Bangla feature films produced by producer Monjurul Islam Megh have been submitted simultaneously to the Bangladesh Film Certification Board for certification, marking what the production company claims is a new record.

The films, produced under the banner of CinemaKing Limited, were submitted on July 30 for certification. The production house said the information was confirmed by sources at the Bangladesh Film Certification Board.

According to industry insiders, the move marks a significant milestone for CinemaKing Limited. Previously known for organizing international film festivals, the company is now making its entry into film production. The seventh edition of its international film festival is scheduled to take place this December.

The production company claims that no individual producer has previously submitted six full-length feature films to the certification board on a single day. Citing a board official, it described the achievement as a new record.

The six films submitted for certification are:

• Parinam (Payback) — Directed by Moinuddin Khan
• Rongshala (The Madness Room) — Directed by Piyuk Kanti Sen
• Rokto Pipasha (Bloodthirst) — Directed by Sajib Hossain
• Rosu Khan (Once Upon a Serial Killer) — Directed by Mizanur Rahman Labu
• Paharer Artonad (Cry of the Hills) — Directed by Mizanur Rahman Labu
• Bondosshu (Bandit of the Forest) — Directed by Mizanur Rahman Labu

CinemaKing Limited said the first three directors are making their feature-film debuts. The company also announced plans to produce 12 films annually, with half of them to be directed by emerging filmmakers as part of an initiative to support new talent.

Some members of the film industry view Megh's latest initiative as a positive response following controversies surrounding government film grants during the 2019–20 fiscal year, although no independent official comment has been made on the matter.

The six films are currently awaiting certification, while several additional projects are reportedly in production.

When contacted, producer Manjurul Islam Megh said, "Today (July 31) is my birthday. Please keep me in your prayers. I hope to share good news with everyone very soon."

Megh's directorial debut, Moyna, has reportedly won 10 awards at international film festivals across different countries. He is also said to be directing a U.S. film and is preparing to travel to the United States for a future Hollywood production.

According to CinemaKing Limited, all six films were produced with international audiences in mind. The company plans to hold premiere screenings across six continents and is also preparing two eight-day events titled Bangladesh CineFest in Malaysia and Dubai, featuring eight Bangladeshi films.

The production house said detailed information about the films, including cast and crew, will be officially announced at a Meet the Press event after the films receive certification.
