US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived at the ancient royal palace Windsor Castle on Wednesday (September 17) on the first day of their historic second state visit. King Charles III and Queen Camilla welcomed the Trump couple in front of Victoria House. Earlier, the Prince and Princess of Wales greeted them as their helicopter landed. After a formal reception inside Windsor Castle, Trump and Melania took part in a horse-drawn carriage procession with the royal family. CNN reported.

Trump and King Charles traveled together in the Irish State Coach. Queen Camilla and Melania Trump followed them in the Scottish State Coach. Members of the armed forces and three military bands were present along the entire route of the reception. The national anthems of the United States and the United Kingdom were played.

Inside the castle grounds, a special guard of honour was lined up, which Trump and King Charles inspected. Later, the Trump couple and the royal family attended lunch in the State Dining Room. In addition, a special exhibition related to the United States from the Royal Collection was arranged for them in the Green Drawing Room.

Trump's visit has been described by the UK government as an "unprecedented second visit". Usually, no second-term US president is invited to a full state visit. They are usually limited to a single meeting or lunch with the king or queen.

But this time, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer personally went to the White House and handed over King Charles' invitation to Trump. He said, "This is really special. It has never happened before. It is a symbol of the strength of our relationship."

During the inspection of the guard of honour, Trump was seen walking a few steps ahead of King Charles. He did the same with Queen Elizabeth II in 2019. However, the palace authorities said at the time that this was not a breach of protocol. This time too, the two leaders were seen talking with smiles.

Trump's second state visit is being formalized with royal pomp and show with the aim of further strengthening relations between the United States and the United Kingdom through this visit.

Extensive security measures have been taken around the visit. Meanwhile, protests are planned in Windsor and central London under the call of the 'Stop the Trump Coalition' organization.
