France is currently witnessing unprecedented protests, fueled by rising living costs and the deteriorating state of schools. French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his outrage over the riots and looting that have accompanied these protests across the country.

In a televised address to the nation on Sunday, Macron acknowledged the public's frustration regarding the current situation.

Like other government officials, the French President primarily blamed far-left activists for the violence, alleging that they targeted police and government buildings with the intent to incite chaos.

In his address, Macron stated, "Those who engaged in looting must bear the responsibility for the damage caused. And those who sought to destroy the Republic will be held accountable."

He strongly condemned the "insurrectionary elements" within far-left groups, as well as the "unbridled violence" perpetrated by the numerous criminals who joined them.

Earlier, following incidents where masked groups set fires and attacked city halls in various cities, Macron held an emergency meeting with senior government officials. He announced that he has instructed local administrative authorities to work alongside mayors to ensure the protection of government buildings and businesses in the coming weeks. He also suggested the possibility of banning protests, should the need arise.

In the city of Limoges, in central France, a fire tore through a 19th-century city hall, causing its roof to collapse and leaving the building almost entirely destroyed. So far, 2,400 people have been arrested in connection with the looting and violence during the ongoing protests in France.
