The United Kingdom has issued a stern warning to expel 27 diplomats from the Israeli embassy in London if the decision to close the British consulate in East Jerusalem is not reversed.

This information was revealed in a report published by the Israeli media outlet Ynet. The British ambassador to Israel, Simon Walters, conveyed this message to the Israeli authorities. Through this, the ongoing deterioration of bilateral relations between the two countries has become more severe.

Last month, the UK imposed a trade embargo on goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, accusing them of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.

The ban was imposed in response to Israeli plans to build 1,200 new homes in the occupied territories, which are illegal under international law and have been widely criticized around the world. In response, the UK announced the closure of the British consulate in East Jerusalem, which is used as a point of contact for Palestinians.
