Iran holds talks with Oman on Strait of Hormuz

Iran is holding talks with Oman on the safe management of the important maritime route, the Strait of Hormuz. The country's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baghei, confirmed the matter.
Baghei said that the deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Oman discussed the matter in Tehran on Friday and Saturday. The matter has made good progress.
Baghei said that the two sides exchanged views on ensuring safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and how to manage the strait while respecting the sovereign rights of the two coastal countries.
He said that the discussions were fruitful and progress was made. In addition, technical and political discussions between the two countries on the matter are still ongoing.
Baghei also said that there is currently no change in the situation of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Shipping continues to move normally in this important waterway for international trade.
