The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims that more than 200 US soldiers have been killed in the 15-day conflict with Iran. They say that the Pentagon's published casualty figures are completely wrong.
In an interview with Tasnim News Agency, IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said that the actual number of US losses and casualties in Iran's counterattack in 'Operation Victory-2' is much higher than what Washington has announced.
Mohebbi claims that the number of US soldiers killed is more than 200 and the number of wounded is much higher. He alleged that the Pentagon is hiding the actual loss figures.
Mohebbi wants the US to allow journalists to enter the US bases where Iran launched missile attacks. This will prove the correct information.
The IRGC claims that eight US military bases were attacked in Operation Victory-2. In one of them, missiles hit 20 installations and aircraft hangars. These attacks destroyed 11 US fighter jets and helicopters, 17 reconnaissance and operational drones, an F-15 fighter jet, a P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, a C-17 transport aircraft and eight aerial refueling aircraft.
Earlier, the Pentagon had said that 18 US soldiers had been killed in the conflict. However, some international media later reported that the revised number of dead was 14. The US had published the photos and names of some of them.
However, the Americans have not yet commented publicly on the latest IRGC claim. The news agency Reuters has also not been able to independently verify the number of casualties or the information about the destruction of military equipment claimed by Iran.
