Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that he will do "whatever it takes" to control the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The leader of the occupying country said that their land extends from the Jordan River to the sea. They will govern this region.
Netanyahu made these comments on Tuesday (January 27) in response to several questions. The leader, who was "convicted" by the International Court of Justice, said that neither he nor his country would allow a Palestinian state in any way. In a press conference broadcast on Israeli television, Netanyahu said, "I have heard that I will allow the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza - this has never happened and will never happen in the future."
Netanyahu claimed that Israel will maintain security control over the entire area "from the Jordan River to the sea" and this policy also applies to the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu said this reflects Israel's long-term political and security interests and this position will remain unchanged.
Netanyahu's demand is to disarm Hamas fighters in Gaza and liberate them militarily. Israel's occupying prime minister has warned that if force is needed to achieve the occupation, he will use the maximum. He also called for the destruction of Hamas's weapons depots and the dismantling of its underground tunnel network. Netanyahu made it clear that no reconstruction work will be allowed in Gaza until these goals are met.
Netanyahu said, "I am already hearing that reconstruction in Gaza will be allowed before the demilitarization - that will not happen. Security comes first."
Netanyahu also ruled out the possibility of deploying foreign troops in Gaza, "I am hearing that Turkish and Qatari troops will be brought to Gaza - that will not happen either." He said that no international security force will be deployed in Gaza. Israel will maintain full security control in Gaza and the entire region.
