China has reacted to US 'interference' in the ongoing violent protests across Iran. Beijing, a close diplomatic and economic ally of Tehran, indirectly criticized the US in this regard and said that China opposes any interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
At a regular press conference in Beijing on Monday (January 12), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, 'We have always opposed interference in the internal affairs of other countries.' He said, 'The sovereignty and security of all countries should be fully protected and intact under international law.' At the same time, he also clarified China's position against the use or threat of use of force in international relations.
Mao Ning also said, 'Beijing hopes that the Iranian government and people will be able to overcome the current crisis and maintain national stability. As tensions rise in the international arena over the ongoing protests in Iran and possible US action, China's statement is being seen as diplomatic support for Tehran (the current regime).
