Jatiya Party Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud has demanded that the party advisors and administration personnel in the interim government be changed before the elections are held.

He said, 'Not by any law; Dr. Yunus came to power through the blood of students and the public, especially the young generation. Therefore, not on any particular party or individual, Dr. Yunus must be accountable on the basis of responsibility. And that responsibility is to organize a free, fair, neutral and acceptable election. However, before the elections are held, the party advisors and administration personnel in the government must be changed. Because, free, fair and acceptable elections are not possible without a party-neutral administration. This is not just me, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this after meeting the Chief Advisor.’

Barrister Anisul said these things in his speech as the president at a discussion meeting organized by the Jatiya Party at Howlader Tower in Gulshan, Gulshan-e-Islamabad on Wednesday to mark Upazila Day.

He said, ‘This (Wednesday) morning, IRI (American Research Institute) representatives asked me whether the Jatiya Party would participate in the elections. In response, I said, we want to participate in the elections. But they have tied our hands and feet with false cases. We are not allowed to hold public meetings. We cannot go to the constituency and campaign. The government has said that the false cases will be withdrawn. But the false cases have not been withdrawn yet. How can we participate in the elections in this situation?’

Barrister Anis said, ‘The Chief Advisor has repeatedly said that the next elections will be the most beautiful and acceptable. We wanted to have faith and trust in the Chief Advisor. But looking at the current situation, there is no way to ensure that the next election will be free, fair, impartial and participatory.’

The discussion meeting was attended by Jatiya Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, Senior Co-Chairman Advocate Kazi Firoz Rashid, Executive Chairman Advocate Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Co-Chairman Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Presidium members Heroic Freedom Fighter Professor Nurul Islam Milon, and Mubarak Hossain Azad.
