China is considering whether to impose retaliatory tariffs on the United States

China has suffered a major setback due to the imposition of US tariffs. China imposed retaliatory tariffs in multiple rounds in response to Donald Trump's tariff war last year. However, it limited them in November last year. However, Beijing is considering imposing tariffs again on recent issues.
Trump has imposed a 20% tariff on imports from China. At several points, it increased it several times. In response, China imposed specific tariffs on agricultural products and the energy sector. It also imposed restrictions on the export of important minerals by using its influence in the rare earth sector. This has brought relations between the two countries to a low point.
Immediately after Trump announced the tariff, the US Supreme Court of the United States annulled the tariffs he imposed. Under that law, a 20% tariff was imposed on imports from China.
After the ruling, Trump said he would impose a new 10% tariff on all goods from the country under Section 122 of the Trade Act. He later said in a post on Truth Social that the rate would be increased to 15%.
China said it was closely monitoring US policies after Trump's announcement and would decide "in due course" whether to coordinate countermeasures against the US tariffs.
A Chinese Commerce Ministry official told Reuters on Tuesday that China was ready to hold open discussions in the upcoming sixth round of US-China economic and trade talks. China has been opposing all forms of unilateral tariffs and has called on the US to withdraw unilateral tariffs and refrain from imposing such tariffs in the future.
Meanwhile, the White House said Trump will visit China from March 31 to April 2 and will hold important meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit was announced just before the US Supreme Court ruling, which is seen as a major setback in Trump's global trade war.
