The United States and Iran have once again engaged in reciprocal threats after concluding their indirect talks. Washington has targeted the country's oil exports to further weaken Tehran, increasing tensions by imposing sanctions on companies involved in the transportation of this energy.

Iran has also issued a counter-warning. The Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has warned that all US military bases in West Asia will be targeted if attacked. He made this warning at a side session of the 17th edition of the 'Al Jazeera Forum' in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Saturday (February 7).

Abbas Araqchi warned, "If the United States carries out any aggression, the surrounding American military bases will be targeted. These bases are within our reach."

He said that Tehran will not attack the territory of neighboring countries; Rather, it will strike the US bases where they are located. The Iranian armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting reply to any attack at any moment.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the Islamic Republic has made it clear from the beginning that there is no room for negotiation on its missile program, as it is a purely defensive matter and beyond the scope of any negotiation.

He also said that enriching uranium is an inalienable right of Iran and this process should continue. He stressed that even a military strike could not destroy Iran's ability to do so.

Abbas Araqchi categorically rejected the idea of zero-percent uranium enrichment, saying that the issue was beyond the scope of negotiations. In another part of his speech, he mentioned the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, which ended a day ago in the Omani capital of Muscat.

He described the talks as a "good start" but warned that there was a long way to go to build trust. The talks with the United States were indirect and limited to the nuclear issue. Tehran has repeatedly stressed that any agreement without tangible economic benefits has no real value. As a result, the timing and outcome of the talks are particularly important for Iran.

On the issue of its nuclear program, Iran insists on its legal right to enrich uranium on its own soil and has called the issue the final frontier of negotiations. In Tehran's view, any possible technical solution will only be considered if this right is recognized. Any preconditions beyond that would be seen as a sign of dishonesty on the part of the other party.

Iran held five rounds of talks on alternatives to the 2015 nuclear deal before US-Israeli air strikes on Iran and its nuclear facilities in mid-June.
