US President Donald Trump has claimed that he is making Venezuela ‘rich and safe’ again. In a statement on social media, he said that he loves the people of Venezuela and that the country is moving towards a new path of stability with the initiative of his administration. Meanwhile, new discussions have started in the international arena around investments in Venezuela’s oil sector, military operations and the declaration of a national emergency.

The US Republican president said that he is already making Venezuela ‘rich and safe’ again. In a post on his social media account Truth Social on Saturday, he wrote, ‘I love the people of Venezuela and I am already making Venezuela rich and safe again. Congratulations and thanks to all those who are making this possible.’

Earlier, on Friday, Trump said that there was going to be ‘a lot of money’ around Venezuela after a meeting with top executives of more than a dozen oil companies at the White House. The meeting also discussed the issue of investment in Venezuela. On the way from the White House to Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump told reporters, ‘We had a great meeting today with the largest companies in the world. They will invest hundreds of billions of dollars and go to extract oil.’

On January 3 of this year, the United States launched a military operation in Venezuela. In that operation, the country’s President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were detained. Trump said that his administration would manage Venezuela and the country’s oil resources during an interim period. Later, the Maduro couple were taken to New York in the United States. There, a preliminary hearing was held against them on drug and weapons charges. Although they denied all the charges at the time.

Meanwhile, last Friday, Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency. It said that it would ensure that Venezuelan oil revenues held in U.S. Treasury accounts are not subject to any seizure or legal process, so that these funds are preserved for the implementation of U.S. foreign policy.

The White House said that the funds are sovereign property of Venezuela and are in the custody of the United States for official and diplomatic purposes and are not subject to any private claims. The statement added that Trump took this initiative to prevent any action that could undermine the important efforts of the United States to ensure economic and political stability in Venezuela.

Meanwhile, Maduro's son and lawmaker Nicolas Maduro Guerra said that his father is fine despite the pending trial. In a video released by the ruling party PSUV, he said that in his father's words - "We are fine. We are a fighting people."
