Belgium staged a stunning late fightback to defeat Senegal 3-2 in their Round of 32 clash in Seattle on Thursday.

Senegal appeared destined for victory after taking a 2-0 lead and remaining in control until the 85th minute. However, Romelu Lukaku pulled one back before Tielemans struck the equaliser just minutes later to force extra time.

The decisive moment came in the 125th minute when Belgium were awarded a penalty. Amid fierce protests from Senegal's players, who surrounded the penalty spot and delayed the restart, Tielemans remained calm before converting from the spot to complete an extraordinary comeback and score his second goal of the match.

Speaking after the game, Garcia reserved special praise for his captain.

"The most important thing is that Youri Tielemans showed his composure and his quality," Garcia said. "Once again, he proved that we have players with the experience to take responsibility in such difficult moments because scoring a penalty in those circumstances is never easy."

The Belgian coach highlighted the physical and mental challenge facing Tielemans after more than two hours of football.

"At 2-2, after 120 minutes or even more, when everyone is exhausted, Youri was physically tired as well. To step up and score from the penalty spot in that situation is incredibly difficult. He did it, and thanks to that goal we are through to the Round of 16. Congratulations to our captain—I thought he was outstanding today."

Garcia believes the dramatic comeback will further strengthen the unity and belief within his squad.

"Coming back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 gives a team enormous confidence. Our journey continues, and moments like these bring a group even closer together. The players now know that anything can happen until the final whistle, and today we proved exactly that."

Belgium will remain in Seattle for their Round of 16 encounter, where they will face co-hosts the United States for a place in the quarter-finals.
