The remuneration structure of Bollywood stars is gradually changing. In addition to taking a fixed amount of remuneration for acting in a film, many stars are now becoming a partner in the profits, rights and IPR of the film. This time Shraddha Kapoor is also thinking of a similar model.
Shraddha is set to play the role of Madhuri Jain Grover, the wife of 'Shark Tank India' entrepreneur Ashwin Grover, in a biopic based on his life. Rahul Modi is in charge of the screenplay and direction of the film.
According to Indian media reports, Shraddha was offered a remuneration of around Rs 20 crore for acting in the film. However, in the latest discussions, it is known that the actress is considering joining as one of the producers of the film instead of taking that amount as a one-time remuneration.
In this method, Shraddha may not take any fixed remuneration initially. In return, there will be an opportunity to get a fixed share from the film's rights, sales on OTT platforms and box office revenue. As a result, if the film does well, its total revenue can exceed the proposed figure of Rs 20 crore.
This profit sharing model is not new in Bollywood. Recently, it was reported that Akshay Kumar has also benefited by adopting the same strategy. In the film 'Welcome to the Jungle', he kept a large part of the film's rights in his hands and his production company for a relatively low fee. After the film's success, his income has been reported to be more than Rs 35 crore as a share of the profit.
Currently, top Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh are also leaning towards the model of sharing the profits of the film in addition to a fixed fee.
Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor is currently busy shooting for her new film 'Ithaa'. It is reported that she is getting a fee of Rs 12 to 15 crore for this film.
However, there is no official announcement yet on whether Shraddha will ultimately take a fee of Rs 20 crore for Ashwini Grover's biopic or will she join as a producer and share in the profits of the film. Fans are waiting for the final decision.
