The United States has taken the initiative to organize new peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. A working-level meeting between representatives of the two countries will be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on November 10 and 11. Washington will mediate in the talks.
On Tuesday (November 3), US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff made this information known in a post on social media X.
Witkoff said the US-mediated meeting will discuss post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian assistance activities and next steps in establishing peace.
He added that US negotiators will meet with representatives of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union (EU) and NATO in the Belgian capital of Brussels this week to discuss ensuring Ukraine's security, the post-war European security architecture and opportunities for economic cooperation in Ukraine's reconstruction.
Witkoff said the United States wants to build on the progress already made in Kiev, Oslo, and St. Petersburg to achieve a comprehensive peace agreement that will ensure lasting security for future generations.
