Opportunity to travel to Finland for free, condition is ’must be single’

You can now travel to Finland, the happiest country in the world, in search of love. And that too completely for free. The country's tourism board is going to organize an exceptional event with 16 single men and women from different countries of the world. The aim is not only to wander around in a pleasant environment, but also to taste Finnish food, meet new people, and even find the person of your dreams.

Through this special event called 'Finnish Dinner Date', the country's tourism organization 'Visit Finland' is inviting 16 singles from different parts of the world. The event will run from February 9 to 19, 2027. Participants will get to know Finnish food and culture as well as get to know local singles. This introduction may even lead to a new love in someone's life.

This information was reported in a report by the American magazine Forbes.

One of the highlights of the event is a special group dinner date, where foreign participants will be introduced to local single men and women in Finland. The dinners will be held in the capital Helsinki and the city of Tampere in the Lakeland region.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste a variety of traditional Finnish dishes. The menu will include dishes made with wild fish, various types of berries and mushrooms collected from the forest. Some of the country's famous chefs will specially prepare these dishes.

"Finnish food is a direct reflection of our happy lifestyle. Through it, we build relationships with nature, the seasons and the people around us," said Heli Jimenez, senior director of international marketing at Business Finland, in a statement.

"Food brings people together in Finland. Now we're inviting travelers to be part of a completely different and special experience," he added.

Behind this event is a popular dating trend in Finland called 'sinkukori' or 'singles basket'.

Some supermarkets in the country have introduced special pink shopping baskets. Single shoppers can use these baskets to subtly let others know that they are interested in talking to someone new or getting into a relationship.

The tourism organization was inspired to organize the 'Finnish Dinner Date' from this idea.

In a statement, the organization said that while Italian, Chinese and other Nordic cuisines are popular around the world, Finnish cuisine is one of Europe's most neglected food traditions.

"From the food traditions associated with saunas or steam baths to the foraging of food from the forest—every Finnish dish has a unique story behind it. We want tourists to fully enjoy that experience," Jimenez said.

He added, "Someone might find love in the happiest country in the world—in each other, in Finnish food, or in a new favorite travel destination."

Who can apply?

Single men and women aged 18 or over from any country in the world can apply to participate in this event. However, applicants must be residents of a country outside of Finland. Applications must be made individually, not as part of a group.

The application deadline is November 10, 2026, 11:59 a.m. Finnish local time (EET, UTC+2).

The names of the 16 selected people will be announced on Visit Finland's social media platforms Instagram and TikTok on December 1.

Who will pay for travel and accommodation?

The Finnish Tourist Board will cover all airfare, accommodation, activities, and meals for those selected for this trip.

According to a statement from the organizers, the blind dinner date will be a casual and fun group event. All participants will eat together and taste a specially created Finnish-accredited tasting menu.
