Russia issues stern warning over US attack on Iran

Russia has expressed deep concern over the new US attack on Iran, warning Washington that military operations, destruction and loss of life cannot weaken Iran's resolve to defend its independence and sovereignty.A series of explosions have recently been reported on Iran's Qeshm Island, further heightening tensions in the Middle East.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the events of the past few months have clearly demonstrated that it is impossible to suppress the desire of the Iranian people to defend their freedom and sovereignty by using military force. Zakharova emphasized the need to strengthen diplomatic initiatives rather than military action to resolve the crisis. She said Russia is ready to assist mediators in finding and implementing a solution acceptable to all parties to the conflict.

Meanwhile, the Russian spokesman expressed hope that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for the global economy, will soon return to normal.

He added that it is important to respect Iran's legitimate interests in using the Strait of Hormuz, while ensuring that the waterway remains safe and open for all countries to navigate in the interests of international trade and navigation.
